Exciting Times at Umber & Ecru
I’ve been sitting on this decision for a little while, and I’m genuinely excited to finally share it properly. Umber & Ecru is moving to monthly limited-edition collections as a focus of the business alongside our Chocolate Tasting Experiences.
If you’ve previous bought our chocolates or followed the brand for a while, you’ll know this feels like a natural step rather than a dramatic change. Umber & Ecru has never been about constant stock or large volumes. It has always been about chocolates that are fresh, small-batch, hand-painted, and made slowly, because that’s how the quality stays where it should be – absolutely premium.
As orders have grown, I’ve had to think carefully about how to keep that standard. The honest answer is that the best way to do it is to stop trying to be “always available”.
So, from now on, there will be one carefully curated collection released each month, in strictly limited quantities. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
One consequence of this move is that the overall range of chocolates will be significantly smaller. Rather than offering a wide range, we’ll be focusing on one curated selection each month.
What excites me most about this is what it allows behind the scenes. It means more time developing new exiting flavours and designs instead of rushing to restock. It means I can think about how the flavours sit together, how they feel seasonally, and how the box works as a complete experience. This allows me to put all my energy into making every single piece exceptional, rather than spreading myself too thin across a broader range.
It also means each edition feels ultra exclusive. If you manage to order a box, you know you’ve secured something that won’t be endlessly repeated.
That sense of rarity matters. Luxury, to me, isn’t about scale. It’s about care and passion. It’s about knowing the person who made it wasn’t working to hit volume targets but focusing on getting each chocolate exactly right.
Moving to monthly limited editions protects that. This feels like the right next step - not bigger, just better!

The first limited edition Passion Fruit will be available for delivery from April 2nd.
Our passion fruit chocolates are made using dark, 75%, couverture chocolate. This single origin chocolate, from Tanzania, has strong cocoa and fruity notes, hence it pairs perfectly tropical fruits like passion fruit.
