FAQ
Have a question about our products other than "How do you make them so delicious?" The answers will probably be below:
How long will my order take?
Fresh batches of fudge and chocolates are made every Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, for dispatch on Thursday by Royal Mail Tracked 24 or 48. For an order to make the weekly production schedule please ensure we receive it by Sunday at the latest.
Can I request a dispatch for a certain date?
Yes. In fact we advocate ordering well in advance and specifying when you would like your order to be dispatched. Everything is made fresh each week, so ordering in advance avoids any disappointment if production capacity is subsequently reached for any given week. You can place an advanced order at any time, knowing your chocolates will be perfectly fresh just when you need them.
What is the shelf life?
Our filled chocolates are freshly made to order each week, using natural ingredients, including butter, fresh fruits and herbs. We do not use any artificial preservatives. For maximum enjoyment, U&E chocolates are best enjoyed within two weeks. This is a best before suggestion as they will keep for much longer but their shine and flavour may diminish over time. The sugar in your fresh fudge slabs acts as a natural preservative. To enjoy it at its finest it is best eaten within eight weeks.
How should I store?
Your Umber and Ecru chocolates should be stored in a cool dry place away from strong odours and direct sunlight. Ideal temperature is between 14°and 18°C. Please note that direct sunlight, even if the room temperature is within this range, can still melt your chocolates.
If hot weather means your only option is to refrigerate, then please place your box of U&E chocolates in an airtight container or Ziplock bag. Refrigerators are not the best place for your chocolates as their very high humidity levels can result in a change to the stunning appearance of your chocolates. If you do need to refrigerate then remove the box from the fridge half an hour before unwrapping.
Your Umber and Ecru fudge should be stored at room temperature. If you wish to keep over a longer period of time, we recommend storing in an airtight container.
Is the packaging recyclable?
Yes, we use paper inserts to hold out chocolates in place rather than plastic trays. And our boxes are recyclable, but better still, we hope that you will reuse them as they’re lovely!
Our clear bags are made from film that is both biodegradable and compostable. This breaks down within a natural environment within 22 days and actually helps to enrich the soil in the process! The brown card bases in the clear bags are manufactured from paper pulp sourced from managed sustainable plantations.
Can I add a message?
Yes, all orders can include a personalised, handwritten message. If you would like to add a message to your order please contact us at delicious@umberandecru.com, or indicate in the delivery note box in your basket.
Are your products suitable for people with allergies?
Our products are made in an environment where nuts, gluten, soya, sesame, peanut, eggs and dairy are used, and we cannot guarantee that any product will not contain traces of any allergen. We are always happy to advise you further on the ingredients and allergens in any of our products.
Do you have a favourite?
Yes, I love all of our flavours & each recipe has been carefully crafted, but one has a special place in my heart - espresso!
Can I collect locally?
The only local collection we offer is on our Umber & Ecru for Elly Wentworth range. These can be ordered for collection from The Angel Restaurant, South Embankment Dartmouth. Your order needs to be made up of items from our Elly Wentworth range ONLY for you to be offered this choice at checkout.
